It is a question we hear all the time: but why do I need to hire a personal trainer? Can’t I just put on a pair of sneakers and make my way outside to run around the block a few times?
The short answer is that you can, of course you can! However, we have found that many people will see results that come easier, last longer, and are healthier if they use a personal trainer to assist their weight loss.
Don’t think that a trainer will make or break your lifestyle change – we won’t. However, it is our duty to help assist you in making better, smarter, more affective changes to your daily life.
At Premier Fitness, we think that you MUST hire a personal trainer to get the most out of any diet or exercise decision you make. Here’s why:
We encourage you and promote personal accountability.
If you don’t have a trainer and you don’t work out for a week, you won’t really have anyone to face except maybe Calvin Klein in your closet. However, if you have someone who’s looking forward to hearing about your workouts and who will be disappointed if you aren’t working out, you will get up and go even when you don’t want to! Your trainer should believe in you even when you are feeling at your lowest and don’t believe in yourself. “CAN’T” is a word that is not in a trainer’s vocabulary.
Trainers make sure you won’t get hurt.
People don’t get hurt because they decide to exercise; they get hurt because they aren’t exercising in the right way. Our trainers will watch you closely and ensure that you will maximize your results.
Mostly, we only correct minor mistakes – but those minor mistakes add up to injuries and take away from results. You will be able to tell the difference when you work out and when you look in the mirror.
You cannot get the same results when you watch a video or when you work out by yourself. You probably wouldn’t even be aware of a mistake, thinking the pain was just the exercise “working.” Remember that we can also help heal existing injuries.
We want to push you enough.
A personal trainer will push you harder than you will ever push yourself, but will also keep you from pushing yourself in areas that your body can’t handle.
If you are like most people, they will work out until they feel like they are about to collapse, and then they will either stop or move on to another type of exercise. Premier Fitness trainers will be able to tell when you truly have had enough – which is often long after you think.
We will also be able to help you with alternative exercises, especially those that you have difficulty with. Many athletes will want to stay healthy while avoiding certain muscles or joints in order to give them time to heal. Good trainers will fit your exercises to you, not come in with a pre-determined list.
We will help you set realistic and healthy goals.
Most people know that in order to make any real, genuine change in your health and fitness, you need to set goals. Goals will allow you to see progress and work toward something. Even if you don’t have a personal trainer, you should set goals. However, we will help you to make goals that are healthy and realistic.
Sometimes, personal trainers will modify your goals to push you or lessen them to be realistic – it is all how we work to read your body and the changes you are undergoing.
Your workout will be completely personalized.
Quality trainers know how to customize and personalize many workout routines that are based upon your individual strengths, your weakness, set goals, and how much time you realistically have.
You would be surprised at how often your workouts should be changed. Workouts will change depending upon your progress and your goals, but also on your body. Some routines and movements don’t work well on everyone. Maybe you really like yoga, but it isn’t going to take you to that next level – that’s what a personal trainer is for. To take your workout and incorporate different things into it so that you can do the things that make you feel good, but still push yourself.
We make working out more fun.
It is part of our job to make you understand just how fun and worthwhile working out can be. We love it and we think you will to. To have a meeting with one of our trainers, do not hesitate to come visit us or set up an appointment to talk to us!
The image of a personal trainer yelling and pushing his clients until near collapse may scare some people away from hiring a trainer, but the benefits of using a personal trainer should be considered carefully. While some in the field provide “tough love” motivation, personal trainers typically work with clients in a non-threatening way, helping them to achieve specific fitness goals.
