To HGH or not HGH, that is the question.

Ah yes, Human Growth Hormone (HGH), the “fountain of youth” hormone. There have been many fictitious — or at least misleading — claims by those wanting to sell you their product full of HGH. Did you know there’s a FREE way to increase this magical hormone naturally and without all the side effects?

It’s true, and we’ll come back to that in a minute.

Why are people so hot to get their hands on this hormone? First, you have to know that I write everything based on a natural perspective. Natural human growth hormone is responsible for building bone and muscle and helping metabolize fat. Sounds great right? It is. However, it begins to rapidly decline somewhere in our mid to late 20’s.

Bummer, yeah? As this declines it begins to show aging in our bodies. So what would be wrong with injecting this back into our bodies to prevent aging? First ask yourself, if all humans do this naturally should I try to manipulate this process?

Side effects

According to the Mayo clinic: “If growth hormone is given to children or adults with normal growth, who do not need growth hormone, serious unwanted effects may occur because levels in the body become too high. These effects include the development of diabetes; abnormal growth of bones and internal organs such as the heart, kidneys, and liver; atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries); and hypertension (high blood pressure).”

It also can speed the growth of cancer, according to multiple reputable sources.

“Sooo… what you’re saying is this could be bad for me?”

Um… yeah.

Oh, forgot to mention that it’s technically illegal to take if you’re not a child with growth issues, with a doctor’s prescription!

Best way to naturally increase this powerful hormone

Exercise

High intensity interval training is the best way to boost this with exercise. This means short intense bursts of heart rate boosting exercise. Strength training has also been shown to be good for increasing HGH.

Diet

Your diet will also play a vital role. Since insulin and HGH seem to have an antagonistic relationship it makes since that sugary or high glycemic foods tend to blunt HGH secretion.

Side note: If you’re reading this and are training with me or have trained with me, then you will notice this is exactly what I preach.

Timing

Again with the “avoid bad carbs” theory. Do not consume high glycemic foods within two hours of bedtime. Most of your growth hormone production comes in the first few hours of sleep. REM sleep is when your body will increase HGH in the body to help with bodily repairs.

Conclusion

So, to summarize, manipulating your body’s HGH levels in unnatural ways… bad. Exercising correctly and the right dietary principles… good.
